Gold in the Net (GITN) prides itself on its creativity and innovation. We leave nothing to chance and continually evolve with the game to bring our students the best goalie development possible. We do not just have one person building the program; we have a team headed up by founder and current President/CEO Perry Elderbroom. The wealth of knowledge and experience from our full-time team, consisting of a former NHL coach, a former NHL player, former college/university and Jr. “A” hockey goaltenders, keeps GITN ahead of the pack.
The new structure for 2014 is about to take the goalie development world by storm; bringing you more time in the net, while continuing to build up your skills and knowledge through a fun competitive environment. It begins with a completely new format, new power skating program and as well as a wide range of new drills.
This year, GITN will be introducing the “GITN Olympics” held during the morning session of the last day of the program. Students will be competing with each other in hopes of being crowned a GITN Olympic Champion. It will be fun and competitive while rewarding goalies for their various skating and teamwork skills.
We have restructured some of the ice allocations and number of students taken onto each ice session. While our Regular and Intermediate programs remain at 12 goalies per half ice and still carry a 3:1 student/instructor ratio, our Advanced programs take only 8 goalies per half ice and carry a 2:1 student/instructor ratio. The Elite programs will now take 6 goaltenders per half ice and our Elite + MTC program will take only 4 goaltenders per half ice.
Our programs help guide you through all the necessary stages of development and provide all goalies the ability to achieve their true potential in the game. The mental training lecture series is the starting point of awareness and implementation of basic principles that will prepare goalies for the next step which is working on different elements of the mental game, as GITN rolls out its new Elite + MTC (Mental Training Course)
GITN still remains one of the only hockey schools to certify its staff annually. This means that each staff member is re-evaluated and re-certified each year for the wide multitude of program levels offered by GITN. The longevity and success that GITN has enjoyed for almost 30 years is attributed to the ability to continually evolve and adapt with the game. Always watching, always studying, always understanding the direction that the game is going and always being prepared. Let GITN show you the way to become a better and more complete goaltender.
